Activity Program Introduces “Remote Recess” for Children

Newport Beach, CA (May 18, 2020) Poppy Life Care has partnered with Pure Game to help impact children’s physical and mental health through the power of play. Pre-recorded “Remote Recess” videos are now featured on Poppy Life Care’s website, where customers can easily view and perform the activities in the house, a driveway or even a small backyard.

“As an organization dedicated to helping families dealing with the challenges of autism, ADHD, anxiety and depression, many of the programs that we offer have a strong mental health component to them,” says Erica Solis, Poppy Life Care founder and executive director. “Our partnership with Pure Game enables us to give physical activity the spotlight it deserves as something that benefits both a child’s physical and mental health.”

Orange County-based Pure Game currently runs close to 100 programs in partnership with over 60 elementary, middle- and high schools in Orange County. In addition to Poppy Life Care, Pure Game partners with other community-based organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs to increase accessibility to its innovative program model.

Pure Game Founder and “Chief Play Maker” Tony Everett says that he started Pure Game because he wanted kids to enjoy sports, but instead of focusing on a traditional sporting model, Pure Game “intentionally focuses on the power of positivity, encouragement, free play, games, character education and leadership skills.”

Physical education experts and researchers agree that physical activity offers children benefits beyond those for their bodies. The mental health benefits – improved management of anxiety and depression – are significant, but school-age children can particularly benefit from regular physical activity, which has been shown to improve confidence, self-esteem, classroom functioning, mood and behavior.
