Poppy Life Care, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families facing health challenges, is raising awareness about the link between stress and cognitive health. A new study published in JAMA Network Open shows that chronic stress can have negative effects on cognitive health, including memory, attention, and decision-making.
Erica Solis, CEO and Founder of Poppy Life Care, said, “This study highlights the importance of managing stress for better cognitive health. Chronic stress can lead to a range of health problems, including depression, anxiety, and even cognitive decline. It’s important to recognize the impact that stress can have on our mental health and take steps to manage it.”
The study found that individuals who experienced chronic stress had a higher risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia. It also found that stress was associated with changes in brain structure and function, including a decrease in gray matter volume in certain regions of the brain.
Solis added, “At Poppy Life Care, we understand the importance of taking a holistic approach to health. This includes addressing stress and its impact on cognitive health. We offer a range of programs and services that focus on stress management, mindfulness, and other techniques to promote overall well-being.”
Poppy Life Care’s programs and services include stress management workshops, mindfulness-based stress reduction classes, and coaching services for individuals and families. The organization also provides resources and support for caregivers of individuals with cognitive impairments.
“We believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy, fulfilling life,” said Solis. “By raising awareness about the link between stress and cognitive health, we hope to empower individuals and families to take control of their well-being.”
